REFLECTION OF SECOND WEEK TEACHING PRACTICE (10-01-2022 to 15-10-2022)
As usual I reached the school by 9 a.m and signed the register of the school. Then I went to spray sanitiser and check the temperature of the students and teachers of School.
I got the opportunity to take the class for the second batch students. The class started by 9:30 and and I was assigned to take classes for 9 B, 8K and 8J. I got to find curiosity in the students face as my face was new to them. First given to to them about the classes and the chapters which I am going to take and created a friendly relationship with the students. I tried my level best to remove their fear teachers to to approach for their various needs. Students were carefully listening to the class and they were curious to know more about the content of the chapter as I showed them the experiments of class 9th in the lab. I was able to provide them with a first hand experience of carrying out experiments. I took them to the science lab and provided a different environment to experience learning process.

Then during the free hours, we got to discuss about setting of a science corner for the students and we the four teacher trainees of science discussed the possibilities of implementing such a programme. We then discussed this with our mentor teachers and got to get a positive response from them. Science corner was planned to bring out the talents and potentials of the students and to give them an opportunity to express it out. We decided to present still models or working models or draw and paint some important concepts related to science like water cycle or acid rain, etc in a chart or cardboard, for students who are good at painting. For providing the information based on science corner, we prepared notice and got a permission from Headmistress Smt.Binu Thangachy.
Afternoon I got an opportunity to watch the NCC practices
It was an Sfi Strike on 11th, but we were assigned to carry on with our classes till the SFI people insisted to leave the school. I got to take first three periods and then the classes were suspended. Since we were free the science teacher trainees cleaned and arranged the Apparatus Chemicals where arranged based on the alphabetical order. Cupboards and shelves were cleaned. All the broken apparatus where removed from the lab. Mentor teachers were very much happy to see arrangements made by us in the lab. They Wholeheartedly appreciated us and thanked us for our efforts.
On 12th as usual I reached on school by 9.00am and moved on to the assigned class 9B. It was a bit difficult to handle that classes at the beginning as the students where restless in the class, then I tried to manage the class at my level best and carried on with the chapter acid, base and salt. Students then gave responses and wrote down the notes.
After the class we circulated the notice regarding the science corner all the 8th and the 9th standard classes. They were instructed to hand over their works or models to any one of the teacher trainees teaching science.
Afternoon we were called upon by a mentor teachers and asked us to help the 3 teacher trainees of METCA college who came as a part of school induction program. Pooja and me assigned to help them in demonstrating the experiment of oxygen using potassium permanganate. We then took them to the lap and help them in familiarising the lab and equipments. It was a pleasure to meet the and to mingle with them
On 13th, I was indulged in the observation of peer teaching and I observed Pooja'S class. It was really a very new experience for me to watch such an informative and interesting class as she advocated the topic Acid rain using Fish bone demonstration. This demonstration aroused an interest in students and she explained this activity in a well defined order and engaged the students in a very meaningful way.
The last period was then assigned for me in 9th B. Since they were no free periods for the teacher trainees of school induction program so they requested me to provide a half an hour of my period to present the experiment assigned to them.I give my my half an hour to them and I stayed back on and observed their class. Even though it was their first experience to teach the students, they provided a good informative session to the students. Students were eagerly listening to their class and watched the experiments with curiosity.
Later I carried out my class and I was excited to introduce WONDERWALL to my students. Wonderwall is introduced for two main reasons, firstly to create awareness about the advancement in science which they can stick on over the wall and secondly the teachers give the opportunity to the students to stick on their their doubts regarding anything related to science on the wonderwall. in he form of give reason questions.
On 15th there were no regular classes for class 8th and 9th, hence we were free for first three hours. During this time we completed our lesson plan works and discuss the about the curriculum based consentization programme. Then I got the exam duty of 6 D. I wrote the questions on the board and asked the students to write down the questions and answers. It was which difficult to handle small students at first. I wrote down all the questions and based on their request I read out the questions.
At the end of the day we were given a token of love student teacher trainees of METCA for the help provided by us during their school induction program.
